Location: Head Office, Cornwall Road, Oakville, ON
Summary:
The Shipper Receiver will be reporting to the production supervisor. The successful incumbent will be responsible for shipping and receiving, identifying and reporting discrepancies, and participating in and coordinating the movement of materials from dock to stocking locations. Will be responsible for leading the shipping teams to accomplish safely and on time; completing, and correcting assignments; adhering to the Company’s policies and procedures; following and encouraging all safety practices; and reporting any concerns to a Safety Team member or member of management.
The primary responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for shipping receiving, determining shipping methods,, and computerized record keeping for production and manufacturing.
- Coordinate with Inventory for shipments of products within required standards and well-known procedures.
- Support facilities projects on a regular basis.
- Responsible for maintaining a fair and consistent set of standards as they apply to the team members.
- Assist in the development of other employees in the department, in the various tasks.
- Maintain and update work instructions as needed.
- Check daily demand of re-supply items.
- Function as liaison between Customer Service and Warehouse regarding shipments
- Check emails from customer service and reply as needed.
- Communicate with customer service/transportation about any anomalies regarding outbound shipments and appointment delays.
- Assist in any discrepancies of shipments, including providing proof of deliveries/pickup.
- Assist with workspace cleanup and telephone answering.
- Contact customers for cargo pickup or arrange for delivery of cargo.
- Maintain inbound and outbound cargo files as directed.
- Report any employee or process concerns (i.e. specifically health and safety) to Management.
- Identify and report discrepancies.
- Receive material into the ERP system.
- Participate in and coordinate the movement of materials from the dock to stocking locations.
- Inspect and maintain the viability of stock storage areas.
- Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Academic Training:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A valid forklift license
Work Experience:
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience in a warehouse environment with Lead Hand experience
- Work experience in a manufacturing environment and signage industry an asset.
Specific Competencies:
- Able to address and resolve ambiguity.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Operation of material handling equipment
- Ability to read and comprehend customers’ orders, and bills of lading.
- Ability to work either independently or collaboratively as needed.
- Ability and experience working in a deadline-oriented environment
