  • NOC: 22302 – Industrial engineering and manufacturing technologists and technicians

Location: Head Office, Cornwall Road, Oakville, Ontario



The primary responsibilities and duties include; but are not limited to:

  • Assist in conducting production, inventory programs
  • Assist in designing plant layouts and developing and carrying out work study and related programs
  • Support in carrying out industrial health, safety and fire prevention plans
  • Support in developing applications using CAD/CAM (computer-assisted drafting, computer-assisted manufacturing) for the control of robots, computer numerical control (CNC) machines and other manufacturing processes and operations.
  • Assist in developing manufacturing and processing procedures and variables, set machine or equipment controls, oversee production and inspect processes
  • Follow and understand safety procedures and company policies including use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Responsible for the preparation, operation and programming as required of CNC router table for production requirements
  • Read and interpret production drawings
  • Prepare and load raw materials (typically sheet aluminum) onto router table for processing
  • Ability to load and manipulate .dxf file formats using AutoCAD and router software
  • Responsible for optimizing parts layout to maximize yield for a given sheet size and part flat pattern
  • Perform initial tooling set-up and changeovers
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and verniers
  • Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements
  • Accountable for the deburring of routed components
  • Organize finished goods by grouping and tagging parts by work order number
  • Responsible for preventive maintenance activities on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation of the router
  • Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.


Requirements / Qualifications:

 Academic Training:

  • College diploma or equivalent in industrial engineering technology, manufacturing technology or a related discipline is preferred.

 Work Experience:

  • Apprenticeship training of two years or more an asset
  • Proven experience as CNC operator with a minimum 3 years’ working experience in metalwork, metal fitting and/or machine operation
  • Building, construction, or sign industry experience preferred

 Specific Competencies:

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings of metalwork mechanical assemblies
  • Must be flexible to work extra hours when needed (overtime)
  • Ability to keep a clean, organized, and safe work area always
  • Computer savvy with basic understanding of g-code and CAD/CAM applications
  • Experience using basic hand and power tools including drills, drill press, impact driver, glue gun and tape measure
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be a self-starter and the ability work independently
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Must have dedicated form of transportation
