As an Electronics Lab Manager, the successful incumbent will be a highly-organized and level-headed laboratory individual to ensure that all lab operations run smoothly by scheduling staff, ordering supplies, maintaining health and safety protocols, and training lab personnel.  You must be able to multitask and plan ahead. A top-notch Electronics Lab Manager combines their experience in the science field with excellent managerial skills.

The primary responsibilities and duties include; but are not limited to:

  • Managing people resources for optimal workforce planning, recruitment, performance goal setting, training, scheduling, and effective workflow
  • Collaborating with other managers to create a positive work environment
  • Resolving any technical and/or client issues, problems, and/or concerns by leveraging the appropriate internal and external stakeholders
  • Recommending, implementing, and monitoring departmental procedures, policies, and standards
  • Working with various stakeholders to develop, recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensuring appropriate methodology and equipment are in place and assisting in the development of new methods or changes in existing methods
  • Monitoring quality control programs and processes, reviewing and interpreting QC results, acting to correct any potential issues
  • Providing exceptional customer service, ensuring customer needs are addressed as needed
  • Responsible for business planning, goal development, and scheduling for the department
  • Conduct quality control for all MRI RMA products to meet commercial standards and customer satisfaction
  • Final testing for all MRI RMA products in finished goods condition and upgrades
  • Report any defective parts to RMA Repair Database
  • On-site customer support service as needed
  • Repair, assemble, and test electronic products (LED display modules, controllers, etc.)
  • Perform in-line inspection, using magnifying devices to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards
  • Soldering, desoldering preparation, cleaning of surface mount and through hole components, pads, etc. following IPC 610 and J-STD-001 criteria
  • Use low and high voltage wattage soldering irons and hot air reflow systems for surface mount components (SMDs) and through hole components
  • Provide in-process inspection and touch up of through hold and surface mount components (SMD)
  • Keep immediate and nearby work areas and equipment in safe, clean and orderly condition
  • Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Academic Training:

  • A vocational school certificate or college degree required
  • Certification of Electronics Assemblies of IPC-A-610

Work Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in the related area as an Individual Contributor
  • A minimum of 1-3 years’ supervisory experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment as an asset

  • Must be a team player and a collaborative outlook, and ability to work under pressure
  • Proven ability to direct growth and implement new processes; expertise in change and project management
